About Cream Violet
Cream Violet is a sophisticated woodland native that graces the garden with an abundance of creamy-white flowers accented by fine purple nectar guides. Unlike some of its stemless relatives, this species produces leafy stems that can reach up to 12 inches in height, creating a more mounded and substantial presence in the landscape. Blooming from late spring into early summer, its delicate flowers provide a steady source of nectar for specialized bees and butterflies. Native to the rich, moist forests and stream banks of the eastern United States, it thrives in partial to full shade and organic-rich, medium-moist soils. Cream Violet is an excellent choice for stabilizing soil in shaded areas and pairs beautifully with ferns or other spring ephemerals. While it can spread vigorously in ideal conditions, its non-aggressive nature makes it a welcome addition to most native gardens. Sow seeds outdoors in the fall for best results.
