About Seaside Goldenrod

Seaside Goldenrod is a rugged and beautiful coastal native that brings the essence of the shoreline to inland gardens. This exceptionally hardy perennial is famous for its thick, waxy, succulent-like leaves, which are specifically adapted to withstand salt spray and harsh winds. Growing three to six feet tall, it produces large, dense terminal clusters of brilliant yellow flowers from late summer well into the autumn months. While native to the dunes and salt marshes of the Atlantic and Gulf coasts, it is also found inland along the Great Lakes and is surprisingly adaptable to heavier garden soils. It serves as an essential resource for migrating Monarch butterflies, providing a high-energy nectar source during their journey south, and supports a wide variety of native bees. Thriving in full sun and well-drained, sandy soils, Seaside Goldenrod is highly resistant to deer and common pests, making it a low-maintenance and ecologically valuable choice for sustainable landscapes.
