About Fire Pink

Fire Pink is a stunning woodland perennial that ignites the spring landscape with its brilliant, scarlet-red blossoms. Each flower features five deeply notched petals that flare out from a tubular base, creating a star-like appearance that is simply impossible to miss. Growing between one and two feet tall, this low-mounding plant is a favorite of ruby-throated hummingbirds, who are drawn to its vibrant color and rich nectar. Native to the open woods and rocky slopes of the Eastern United States, it thrives in partial sun and well-drained, medium-dry to dry soils. While it is a relatively short-lived perennial, typically lasting two to three years, it often self-seeds in ideal conditions to maintain its presence in the garden. Its taprooted nature makes it quite hardy once established, providing a bold splash of color from April through July. This species is an excellent choice for rock gardens or the edges of a shaded border where its unique floral structure can be appreciated up close.
