About Sweet Everlasting

Sweet Everlasting is a charming and aromatic native annual that delights the senses with its unique fragrance and silvery appearance. Also known as Rabbit Tobacco, this plant grows 1 to 3 feet tall and is covered in fine, white hairs that give it a soft, felt-like texture. From July through September, it produces clusters of small, pearly-white flower heads that retain their shape and color even after drying. One of its most delightful features is the sweet, maple syrup-like scent that emanates from the foliage and flowers, especially on warm days. Native to the eastern and central United States, it is typically found in dry, open fields, pastures, and woodland clearings. It is an important host plant for the American Lady butterfly caterpillar. Sweet Everlasting thrives in full sun and well-drained, medium-dry to dry soils. Its drought tolerance and pleasant aroma make it a wonderful addition to rock gardens, meadows, or sensory garden paths.
