About Small-flower Fame Flower

Small-flower Fame Flower is a diminutive but resilient succulent that finds its home in the harshest of environments, such as dry rocky glades and sandy barrens. This charming native perennial grows only 2 to 8 inches tall, featuring a basal rosette of fleshy, needle-like green leaves that are perfectly adapted for water storage. From May to August, it sends up slender, wiry stems topped with delicate pink to rose-colored flowers. Interestingly, these blossoms typically open only for a few hours in the late afternoon, earning the plant its 'fame' for its fleeting but beautiful display. Native to the central and western United States, it is a master of survival in full sun and very dry, well-drained conditions. It is an ideal candidate for rock gardens, trough planters, or sandy areas where few other plants can survive. Its nectar-rich flowers are a magnet for small bees, and its unique succulent form provides a fascinating contrast to more traditional garden plants. For a touch of miniature wonder in a sunny, dry spot, this fame flower is a perfect choice.
