About Rocky Mountain Bee Plant

Rocky Mountain Bee Plant is a show-stopping annual that lives up to its name by attracting a dizzying array of bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. Growing rapidly to a height of 3 to 6 feet, it produces large, spherical clusters of vibrant pink to purple flowers with long, dramatic stamens that give the blooms a fuzzy appearance. These flowers appear from June to August, providing a mid-to-late-season feast for pollinators. The plant is further characterized by its trifoliate leaves and long, drooping seed pods that follow the blooms. Native to the plains and foothills of western North America, it is highly drought-tolerant and thrives in full sun and well-drained, medium to dry soils. As a prolific self-seeder, it can easily establish itself in a garden, creating a reliable annual display of color. Its nectar is so abundant that it was historically used to produce a concentrated syrup or paint. For a high-impact, ecologically rich addition to a sunny site, this bee magnet is unsurpassed.
