About Wild Mint

Wild Mint is a refreshing and resilient perennial that brings a cool, crisp aroma to any landscape it calls home. Reaching heights of up to two feet, this versatile plant features square stems and lance-shaped, serrated leaves that release a signature minty fragrance when brushed. From mid-summer through early autumn, delicate clusters of tiny white to pale lavender flowers emerge in the leaf axils, creating a subtle but beautiful display. Native across much of North America, it thrives in moist to wet soils along stream banks, wet meadows, and low-lying areas. Beyond its pleasant scent, Wild Mint is an ecological powerhouse, attracting a wide variety of pollinators including honeybees, native bees, and butterflies. It is remarkably easy to grow in full sun to partial shade, though its rhizomatous nature means it can spread aggressively in ideal conditions. For gardeners, it serves as an excellent groundcover for rain gardens or damp spots where other plants might struggle, providing both sensory delight and vital support for local wildlife.
