About Marsh Marigold

Marsh Marigold is a cheerful herald of spring, brightening wet landscapes with its brilliant, buttery-yellow flowers. This succulent-like perennial grows in tidy, mounded clumps about 1 to 1.5 feet tall, featuring glossy, heart-shaped leaves that remain lush as long as moisture is abundant. Native to swamps, wet meadows, and stream banks across much of North America, it is a premier choice for rain gardens, pond edges, or boggy areas. The early-season blooms, appearing from April to June, provide a critical nectar source for emerging pollinators like bees and syrphid flies. Marsh Marigold thrives in full sun to partial shade; however, in hotter climates, it may go dormant in summer if the soil dries out. Planting in rich, organic, hydric soil and ensuring consistent moisture will keep this vibrant native flourishing. Its early splash of color is a welcome sight in any wetland garden after a long winter.
