About Bush's Poppy Mallow
Bush's Poppy Mallow is a vibrant and rare perennial that brings a splash of intense color and prairie charm to the home garden. It is a show-stopping plant, known for its large, upward-facing cup-shaped flowers in a brilliant shade of magenta or deep pink. Unlike the more common sprawling Purple Poppy Mallow (C. involucrata), this species has a more upright, weakly erect to rambling habit, typically reaching about 1.5 to 3 feet in height. It blooms profusely from June through August, with flowers that open in the morning and close in the evening. Native to a limited range in the Ozark region (Missouri, Arkansas, Kansas, Oklahoma), it is often found in rocky woods and limestone glades. Its nectar-rich blooms are a favorite of bees and butterflies. It thrives in full sun to partial shade and well-drained, medium to dry soils. With its long bloom time and stunning color, it is a highly recommended and unique choice for native wildflower beds.
