About Crowned Marigold
Crowned Marigold is a graceful, moisture-loving annual that lights up the late-summer landscape with its brilliant yellow blooms and airy, delicate foliage. Growing 2 to 5 feet tall, this species features deeply divided, narrow leaves that give it a very fine texture. The bright yellow, daisy-like flowers appear in abundance from August through October, providing a late-season burst of color. Primarily found in the eastern and central United States, it is a specialist of high-quality wetlands, bogs, and wet prairies. Like its relatives, it is a critical late-season nectar source for bees and butterflies, supporting biodiversity when other flowers have finished. Its seeds are also an important food source for wetland birds. Thrives in full sun and wet to medium soils. It is generally less aggressive than some other Bidens species and is a beautiful addition to a rain garden or the edge of a backyard pond, where its fine foliage and vibrant flowers can be truly appreciated.
