About Swamp Marigold
Transform your wet meadows into a sea of gold with Swamp Marigold, a prolific late-season annual that provides a vital nectar feast for pollinators. This cheerful plant grows 2 to 5 feet tall and is covered in brilliant yellow, daisy-like flowers from August through October. Its deeply lobed, fern-like leaves add a fine-textured look to the landscape. Native to the central and eastern United States, it thrives in wet prairies, marshes, and roadside ditches. It is a powerhouse for biodiversity, attracting a wide array of bees and butterflies, and serves as a larval host for the Dainty Sulphur butterfly. The seeds are also consumed by songbirds and ducks. Prefers full sun to partial shade and wet to medium-wet soils. As an annual, it will readily re-seed itself in open, moist ground, making it ideal for naturalizing in low areas or rain gardens. Its ability to provide mass color in late summer makes it a favorite for both gardeners and wildlife enthusiasts.
